As we prepare to launch this new academic year of the post-graduate NP Dermatology Certificate Program alongside the amazing faculty of the FAU Christine E Lynn College of Nursing, I’m filled with immense gratitude.

Being the lead faculty for FAU’s dermatology certificate program is an honor, as my own values around caring for the whole person, including mind, skin, and environment, are in harmony with FAU’s philosophy.

At FAU’s Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, nursing is defined as a discipline “grounded in caring, one that nurtures the wholeness of persons and their environments through intentional, authentic presence.”

It’s a view that sees nursing as both science and art, emphasizing deep knowledge while embracing the importance of holding space for each person.

I am grateful for this role with its philosophy that reflects my own: that non-judgmental caring is the foundation of our teaching, our research, and our clinical practice and that healthy skin is inseparable from overall well-being.

To the new cohort: You’re not just learning dermatology skills. You’re being invited to practice dermatology nursing as a relational art rooted in caring.

I can’t wait to learn and grow with you!
