Skin Tags

Skin tags are technically called “acrochordons.” These are small, benign overgrowths of skin that form on the skin. They are very common on the neck, face, underarms, and groin, although they can form anywhere on the body.

We have 3 options of skin tag removal:

  1. Electrocautery removal (burning) is a high-frequency electrical current burns and removes the tag while sealing the wound to prevent bleeding.
  2. Snip removal (cutting) we use sterile scissor or a scalpel to snip off the tag, usually under local anesthesia.
  3. And shave removal which is a quick, minimally invasive procedure used to remove raised skin lesions, such as wide-based skin tags or keratoses. After numbing the area with lidocaine, we use a sterile blade to carefully shave off the lesion. No stitches are needed, and healing typically occurs within a few weeks, leaving minimal scarring. This procedure is safe and effective and requires no downtime.

Ideal for: Non-cancerous growths that are raised above the skin.

Do the tags grow back?

The skin tags I remove will NOT grow back, however, the tendency for skin tags is genetic (maybe your parents or grandparents had them) and also due to hormonal factors. So although the ones I remove will not grow back, they can still continue to sprout in other places.

Don’t worry, though! Certain measures can be taken to avoid growth of other tags. We will discuss this during our visit together! Interested in a consultation?
